Help with Accelerometer and Ball Movement

Hello everyone. I wanted to know how I could control a ball with the accelerometer. The movement in the z axis are able to do only forward but if I tilt the device to me, the ball doesn't change direction and does not move backward. I would like to know how best to configure the movement of a ball with the accelerometer. Thanks to all
