External query to master server

Hi all,

Im starting to look at using a custom built third party application that would need to access the master server to query it for the current server list. I've had a look around and there does not seem to be any documentation on how to do it or requests the master server will accept so I guess my question is does anyone have any tips on how to achieve it or do I need to drudge through the master server code to figure it out?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
