How to emit a sticky liquid so that it interacts with and covers an environment?
I was hoping to get some advice on how to emit a sticky "liquid" into an environment. It might be helpful to envision blood, gore or even perhaps syrup shooting from a hydrant onto a scene.
How would one go about setting this up?

Well for blood i'd use decals. For syrup shooting from a hydrant some kind of particle with unity's particle system. gore either particles too or simple 3d objects.
trust me you don't want to do a realistic particle based liquid simulation like here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CP5QvfuD_w but if you are interested in this topic you should read this: Fluid Simulation for Video Games (note, the link is to page 15, you may want to start at page 1)
about the stickiness: some kind of debuff on collision with your fluid
