Centering a texture on Sphere on X axis
Hello.
I'm putting a texture of the Earth on a sphere. The texture is 4000 pixels wide, with 0 degrees longitude at pixel 2000 (right in the middle).
Later on, I want to put cites on the sphere by latitude and longitude. I will be mapping from lat/long to coordinates on the surface of the sphere.
What would make it waaaaay easier is if I could get the center of the texture (pixel 2000, or longitude 0 degrees) to be perpendicular to the x-axis on the sphere. In other words, if the sphere is at (0,0,0), the x-axis should run right through the intersection of 0 latitude and 0 longitude.
Is there a way to rotate the texture on the sphere, so it puts that pixel 2000 line on the 0 degree line on the sphere? Another way to think about it would be to have the left and right edge of the texture meet at the -x-axis.
Thanks!
