How do I determine if an android device is able to play a HD video
I'm able to play 1080p video ( and even 3840x1920px ) video on my Nexus 5 android device for 360 video "panoramas" using this plugin. Sadly, some devices are not able to do this. I'd like to know if there is a way to detect what resolution video an android device is capable of supporting so that I can select a lower quality/resolution video if needed.
I've found this information in the Unity docs, but I don't know what values correspond to video playback capability.
This page in the android developer's guide details which video formats are supported. The videos I'm using, use the VP8 codec at 1080p and 720p, and I also have the (undesirable) option to use SD (high quality) video, although that's a last resort option.
Pointers as to how I can figure this out are greatly appreciated.
