How to change a sprites color from a script?

Hi

How do I change a sprites color when i import it?, I'm aware that sprites''s color can be changed through the sprite renderer, but the sprite whos color needs to be changed is a second state of another sprite, its attached to a public place holder to a script in the inspector, so there is no color wheel/bar present.

Is it possible to add a color wheel through a script? if so, then how?
