Question by Ryooner94 · May 26, 2016 at 12:56 PM · objectslightmappinglightsshapes

Why the objects in my scene are looking like silhouettes with the light button on?

Hi! Another tiny issue that I’ve noticed while watching few tutorials. This one is about the scene baking and the lighting in general. I use unity 5.3. The first thing I noticed was the lights and shadows on my scene and the tutorial scene. Something seems to be wrong, I just don’t know how to catch it because I’m a beginner. Notice the lights and shadows with the light button on and off.

In the tutorial that I'm watching, even with the lights on, the shapes don't turn completely dark like how mine are doing. it seems like the tutorial is completely opposite to how mine look like.

Note: I'm trying to bake this scene. When I added the directional light, the dark shapes showed light reflection and such, but after baking the scene (if I'm doing the right thing) I should still have the shadows and the light reflection even after removing the directional light. When I removed the light, my shapes returned to be as dark as the were, which I assumed to be me not doing the right thing to bake the scene, and there's something that's making me confused about the shapes being dark unlike the tutorial. How do I make the shapes visible and not look like they're just silhouettes there? And how do I bake a scene properly in unity 5.3 to make sure that after I solve the shapes problem, I try again and see if it's fixed or not ?

Sorry for the long question.

You have to actually add a light source in the Hierarchy to have any sort of light..
