Hide Input always false

Having a hard time with hiding the input field on Android - Landscape No matter what I do, TouchScreenKeyboard.hideInput is always false and the keyboard opens to full screen.

The info in the api mentions using the default keyboard and that hide input only works on single line. Both didn't work. Any ideas? :(
