Question by TheFishInABowl · Nov 16, 2016 at 03:18 PM · particlesystemshurikenshapesquare

square shaped particle emitter?

Hi.

Are there any way to make the shuriken particle system shape into a 2d square or rectangle? The only 2d options i see is circle and edge.

I want my particles to emit from the edge of an rectangular 2d shape. i wouldn't think this was so difficult?

Perhabs you could use a plane mesh as the emitter mesh and set the emission to edge?

The whole area of the plane counts as "the edge". So sadly no.

That's not true. If set to edge, the particles will spawn along the edges and travel in the direction of the normal.

The way to do this is to use a quad mesh as the emitter mesh, and then set the emission to edge in the particle system

Doesn't quite work for me as the diagonal line from the quad to two triangles also emits particles.

If that's the case, you could use 4 long, thin quads, each of which is aligned with an edge of your rectangle. Or make your own single mesh of that sort.

Ended up just having 4 edge emitters. Not ideal but worked without needing a new model.
