Weird Light maps on a sketchup model and lag issues (unity 2018.4.20f1)
hello folks,
I've recently finished modeling a building i've worked on for the past few months and the results with unity are frustrating. This model is a commercial hub building that was made on Sketchup and exclusively made for a video game called vrchat. one problem here is that im getting terrible bakemap results everywhere around the building. i made sure to check the "generate UV maps" on the model inspector, in which the artifacts are worse if i have that option off. below are 2 examples from several areas of the building.
another problem im facing is lag. this building overall has about 1.5 million polygons which of course is likely reasonable to cause lag unless theres a way around towards this. material swapping would make unity freeze for few seconds. everything you see here is all in one fbx file which im unsure if thats another reason why it lags. i get about 17-23fps according to unity stats. ive thought of splitting areas into multiple files to maybe fix the problem, doing so lags sketchup so bad to the point where it freezes.
is there any solution towards these issues? any help is appreciated.
