Treadmill/no root motion animation and attack animations Guides

I have been working on a game in which i'm using UFPS. This limits the game in that it cannot use root motion, as it uses a character controller. I have plenty of animations that are made for root motion (360 swing etc) that i would like to animate without root motion. What are the common practices? Are there any tutorials on this? All i can find after searching for days are just tutorials on how to use root motion.
