How do you detect if your Oculus camera is In Alignment With a particular Object?
I want to turn TV off, i want to turn lights on and off, i want to push doors open, i want to lock and unlock doors.NOTE It will be a game played with the XBOX One controller My algorithm would include putting these invisible game objects i call detectors surrounding whatever little knob, piece of door or whatever.
The detectors would be bigger than the know, switch etc so that you don't have to be perfect and have to align perfectly.
But anyways once my rift headset is aligned with that object and i press one of the XBOX buttons it should switch light on, or switch it off(if it was on), turn on or off the tv, ..... Even use this technique to grab objects you center your view on. and then to throw them you just view where you want to throw them too and if your character has enough force it will try to throw it all the way where you centered your view before pushing the button. By the way this is First person VR game.
So that's it. i'll figure out the rest but How do you detect if the Oculus RIft camera(headset) is aligned with the DETECTOR i told you about. or with an OBJECT?
Someone i asked mentioned briefly "you can use a raycast" I don't know what Raycasts do and how to use them.
Thank you
