Question by siddharth3322 · Mar 02, 2016 at 04:01 PM · iosunity5uploadappledistribution

Very Large iOS Build Size Unity 5

At present I am trying to upload build to Apple store but after exporting IPA file using distribution certificate, I become somewhat shocked because exported IPA file size is around 200MB.

I regularly generated and exported IPA for development purpose but that remain around 30MB regularly.

I can't able to understand why distribution copy remain this much big. I decided to use Application Loader to upload build over Apple Store.

At present I am using Unity version 5.3.3p1. Please explain me this, I am so much confused regarding this.

O$$anonymous$$, so Bitcode is the issue here which makes sense. I'd like to get some clarification on what the end user will actually download though. Presumably it'll be a smaller download optimised for the particular device...

Have you looked at the editor log? When you build, detailed information about the build size is logged out alt text

Further suggestions can be found on the manual page for Reducing File Size

Does apple store reduce my build size after launching?

In case someone doesn't know where to find this file:
~/Library/Logs/Unity/Editor.log

You can view that file from console.app or with any editor you like. Thanks for sharing this, I had some 10mb+ unused files in there :)

Does that 200Mb file include your dSyms? These can be quite large so may explain the change

It's also worth knowing that when you upload to Apple, they will extract the contents of the IPA, encrypt the contents and then re-zip. This usually leads to an increased file size, sometimes by as much as 30Mb.

@phil_me_up, I am just giving you file size of IPA file only. Not for any other file. Whether apple store change my game size after launch into market? Because I don't want to publish 200mb game into market. $$anonymous$$y game is not that much big so that I can't able to understand 200mb.
