How do you control your FPSController via C# script?
Hello, I have a problem with trying to adjust FPSController's position and Camera rotation via C# script.
I have a game object set with a trigger collider, which acts as a button. When the button is pressed, a number of events happen, and I want one of those events to be the alteration of current player position and camera rotation.
For example, if the player clicks on the button, while he's standing slightly to the left of it and has his camera pointed slightly downards, I want that position and rotation to be reset to specific values. I also want this transition to be smoothed, so it wouldn't just "jump" to the new position.
So far I have tried making an empty Game Object under FPSController and attaching the FPS camera as a child, which I then managed to make rotate, but the body didn't rotate with it, so the controls got messed up. So I tried something similar with the body itself, but that did not work at all.
In terms of code I tried something like this:
public GameObject playerControl;
public GameObject playerHead;
public float smooth = 2f;
That is where I put the FPSController and the parent object that contains the camera, as well as the rotation smooth value.
After that, I tried to apply this code to try and rotate it:
Quaternion targetRotation = Quaternion.Euler(0, 0, 0);
playerControl.transform.localRotation = Quaternion.Slerp(transform.localRotation, targetRotation, smooth * Time.deltaTime);
playerHead.transform.localRotation = Quaternion.Slerp(transform.localRotation, targetRotation, smooth * Time.deltaTime);
Fair enough, it did seem to work... More or less, but it did not do it smoothly, it just jumped to the target rotation. Also, the player Body seems to rotate for a split second, but then resets back. Also, because the head rotates on its own, it's clear that it breaks movement, because it gets "twisted" on the body, so I would probably need to only rotate it on y angle, which I have not looked into, but I'm guessing it should be a simple enough matter.
Either way, I need help with this as I SEEM to be on the right way, but I'm just off by a bit... Probably.
