Distorted (Blotchy) Lightmapping [Unity 5 pro]
I have been having issues with lightmapping for a while now, and the blotchy effects show in the scene whether it is a large or small project, so to make troubleshooting easy, I created a new project, imported a bench object and placed a plane and four cubes into the scene.
All settings were left to default, expect for the follwing:
Changed the 'Sun' to the directional light (ignore this, the directional light is disabled for this example, problem still exists with directional lighting anyway)
Ambient GI was set to baked
Ambient intensity was set to 2 for better lighting
Strong ambient occlusion was applied to exaggerate the effect.
I have been looking around the best I can, and the only advice I can find has either not helped the issue, or applies to Unity 4 and older.
I have messed around with tons of values and options to try to achieve a smoother, higher quality lightmap, but I don't seem to be getting anywhere.
Anyone have any idea what might be going wrong? Again the only objects in the scene are the ones that are visible in the screenshot as well as a camera. (And a disabled directional light)
EDIT : Silly me, I forgot to generate lightmap UVs on the bench .FBX this time round, even so I was still experiencing problems on both the cubes and bench, so after a bit more trial and error, I found that the following actions fixed my issues for the most part :
Unticking 'compressed' in the Scene tab seemed to fix simple meshes like the cubes completely.
Under the Object tab, changing the value of 'Scale in Lightmap' to 8 fixed the bench.
If there's any better / more efficient options please let me know. Cheers in advance!
