Best way to procedurally generate materials with text
I'm designing a virtual library and need the books' covers to display titles that are stored in a database. As such, I need a C# interface that somehow can get text displayed on those books.
I've looked at Substance Designer to make a procedurally generated texture, but the Text Node in the program is not supported by Unity yet. I also stumbled across TextGenerator in the Unity API, but that uses meshes not textures, which may cause performance issues since I will be rendering a lot of books.
What is the best way to approach this problem?
I don't think there is any library out there to do that yet on unity, you could write a library that could convert char's to their pixel versions using SetPixel on a texture2D.
