Why won't 2017.2 and VS build at all (HoloLens)
Got 2017.2.0f3. Updated to 'Fall Creator Update'. Fresh install of VS 2017 Community
Empty project. Empty scene except for camera. Set Build settings for HoloLens.
Unity builds fine.
Open SLN file in VS 2017. 1000 errors, most like this:
1>D:\Unity\20172Test\App\20172Test\Properties\AssemblyInfo.cs(9,32,9,34): error CS0518: Predefined type 'System.String' is not defined or imported
Seriously. Everything inlcludes System and all the requisite 'usings'. Googling shows people having this type of issue since 2007, not in Unity.
Probably missing something obvious, but it's killing me
$$anonymous$$ore info: I backed my empty project down to 2017.2b2 (Beta 2) and it DID BUILD. And it RUNS on the HoloLens. So 2017.2.0f3 DOES NOT WOR$$anonymous$$ #Unity WTAF? Did you not test this?
$$anonymous$$ore more info: I then loaded my now-working-in-B2 project into 2017.2.0f3, build, and guess what, it builds and runs. So SO$$anonymous$$ETHING about the default state of a fresh install of .2.0f3 and VS 15.4 doesn't work, but building from an earlier version and then importing to current version may fix it.
Not sure if this will help, but I am using Unity 2017.1.1f and Visual Studio version 15.0.0 and it builds. I couldn't get VS 15.4 to work with any versions of unity on the hololens.

Maybe this: In Visual Studio, Tools Menu/NuGet Package Manager/Settings. Make sure the top 2 boxes are checked to allow getting of missing packages on build.
I still call Foul that this is not on by default, and that something as basic as System is not just simply there, how can it be missing?
