Horrible lag when selection objects in Editor hierarchy
I have around 2000 objects in scene. Each 500 is parented under one parent, so 4 parents and 500 objects in hierarchy.
(I`m not talking about play mode)
In editor scene, when i select with mouse one of those objects, (I click on it) Unity lags for about 5+ seconds from that selection, even more. I know it has to calculate where you clicked, but such a lag with only 2000 objects??
I have i7-6700k, which is beast, so I`m kinda shocked selecting objects from scene takes soo long.
is there any info why is it so slow? Or it is completely normal?
This thread is 3 years old, but did you find an answer? I'm struggling with this myself. At first I thought it was a rendering issue, but a quick test using low-poly objects showed that this was indeed not the case. Scene view runs buttersmooth until I select the object :/ . No other components, no editor scripts, just meshes.
Unity is a 3D engine and uses the gpu to run the editor. If you have a weak gpu, cpu or low ram then lag is to be expected.
Hmm... I think my specs are pretty high... I'll have them listed below and if one of these is under par I'd greatly appreciate the heads up.
In the mean time I've started my own thread where I talk about my problem more thoroughly. Here it is: link to thread
