Sandy surface for virtual reality
I was trying to create a natural scene where the user is on a beach. For normal monitors, its easy to create sand using textures and normal mapping. But, in VR, this material looks quite bad because stereoscopic effect is not possible when rendering 2D textures. Of course, it is quite impossible to add so much real geometry to render sand.
What would be a good way to do this?
