Number of vertices per character
Hello,
I'm planning in making a game as a hobbyist. And i have created a model in sculptris and used MeshLab to get some low poly of my sculpture. As i want it detailed (i know about normal maps), i wanted to keep some more vertices and right now i have around 7k vertices. Is this allright?
There are a lot of answers on google but people speak about really ridiculous amounts like 500 vertices ... this is more of playstation area than today so i would be really amazed if todays dev are working with 500 vertices...
So my question is, is 7k allright for a single character? (The model is finished and i don't think i will add more vertices on it, he is without clothes, so probably with clothes it will go up to 8-9k? i'm not familiar how much vertices need clothes never done so)
And if i stick around that for other objects like Trees (Even if i doubt i need that much for a tree haha), houses, some platforms?
Thank you.
