Monodevelop formatting not changing
Okay, I'm kind of new to C# and I used to use Visual Studio 2015 to do my coding in, then one day it completely stopped working and couldn't open the projects, I then moved to Monodevelop to do my scripting. However, when I write code, I prefer to have curly braces on new lines as it is easier for me to visualize how the code should work. Visual Studio 2015 automatically put curly braces at the end of if statements and such on a new line.
Like so:
if (something == true)
{
//code here
}
Monodevelop does not do this, it puts curly braces like this:
if (something == true) {
//code here
}
I searched for an answer and everyone else had the same problem. What worked for them was to go to the solution settings and change the policy type to Microsoft Visual Studio, however this did not work. I also tried editing the C# format going to the 'Braces' category, changing, 'Statements, Method, Enum, Class, etc' declaration to 'New Line' however I have still noticed no effect on the formatting. The curly braces still stay on the same line as the statement. It isn't the end of the world if there is no solution, but it is very helpful to have this feature.
