If anyone else is facing the same issue, first make sure you can see both Scene and Game view in the same window. Then reset the text. It'll look weird in Scene view, but will look fine in Game view.
Roll a ball tutorial: Canvas is not appearing same as in the tutorial
When I add the text it creates an enormous canvas. Not sure what I missed. Here are the screenshots: http://imgur.com/a/SLgs4
The two white lines from the origin are corner of the canvas. It's so large that I can't get it into frame without making the game area nearly invisible.
That's because you're looking at the scene view. Go to the game view and you'll see what you ACTUALLY see when playing the game.
Remember that the scene view is for editing. The game view is for actually playing the game.
