Surgeon Simulator large Intestine behavior

I would like to make a rope that behaves similarly to Surgeon Simulator's large Intestine behaviour; as seen in this youtube video: large Intestine behaviour

I've did a few tests and been able to achieve some results, but couldn't get other pieces to the puzzle working.

So, i'm able to create a tube with divisions segments and joint in 3D software(maya) and able to rotate each joints with seamless deformations to the mesh due to the skin weight of the mesh and joints done in maya.

I couldn't get pass this stage now. I've tried all the joints physics component available in unity but couldn't get the kind of behavior the large intestine has.

The behaviors are:

  • has weight (i think that would be done on rigid body component - mass value)

  • most importantly, the joints would not go haywire and twist and turn till infinity (note how the intestine "passive" behavior in the video)

Thank you for your time.

Don't bother making joints in $$anonymous$$aya. They can't export to Unity joints. You can just make bones and hand-bend them to check they deform O$$anonymous$$.

Getting Unity joints to work well just takes time and practice. A few tweaks can turn jerky, twitching junk, into a nicely behaved chain. But I feel like when a "rope" gets to 5+ jointed segments long, it may be more and more impossible to get working just right.
