How to control a plant or vine?
Hey everyone
Im about to start a new project that will involve some pretty unique mechanics and I dont really have the slightest idea where to go to look up the information I need to even have a chance at making it. Essentially I want to have a game where I control a large plant or vine whose goal is to attack and kill or enslave humans through neural integration and modification, my problem is as to how I would control the plant itself as it grows. There would be so many 'feelers' or vines branching out in a lot of directions, doing a lot of things like aiming for the neck or limbs to perform different actions and one person is controlling it in a 3d environment against an Ai that modifies the behavior of humans in response to what you do.
What would be a good control scheme for something like this if I want the player to actually control the separate vines? Would something like telltale games employs be an idea? would a strategy like or tactical system be better? or something like an fps with a complex character switch system?
