Why are the forum post formatting capabilities so poor?
When I write a sentence and presse ENTER I get a new line in the editor, but not in the post itself. Instead, as the little help window says, I have to type TWO SPACES:
Now I got a new line. But how to get a space between the lines? One could use html tags (like br, what I cant show here, because even within the code brackest its removed by the text conversion):
Oh wait, the space between new lines only works if I write a blank line into the editor and then add the html tag in the next line:
Here we go.
You can also add code snippets in the editor:
if(true) {}
Which is a bit hard to edit in the editor window, but it can be handled. But what if I want to post code after a listing?:
text 1
text 2
using System.Collections; using System.Collections.Generic; using UnityEngine;
public class TestScript : MonoBehaviour {
// Use this for initialization void Start () { } // Update is called once per frame void Update () { } }
No matter how many blank lines I add prior to the code block, it gets messed up! It only works if I put a br html tag inbetween:
text a
text b
using System.Collections;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using UnityEngine;
public class TestScript : MonoBehaviour {
// Use this for initialization
void Start () {
}
// Update is called once per frame
void Update () {
}
}
Conclusion
This forum post editor is the worst editor I ever encoutered! How do you expect people to post high quality answers and questions with this? DO SOMETHING!
Hah! I just posted about the line break issue. Funny that two posts in a row mention it.
I try to use https://gamedev.stackexchange.com/ ins$$anonymous$$d of these forums mainly due to how bad they are. I actually suggested an Area51 site just for Unity, but it got murdered in less than a week :(

As for double line breaks, I use the unicode space ( ) between two blank lines to simulate a proper break.
p.s. I realized I meant to comment, not answer. But then I decided this should be an answer. p.p.s. Forgot to add my top-secret double line break. :|

UA is run using a 3rd-person system. I've heard it was "Qato" but was switched a few years ago, not sure to what. So Unity Co. has to ask them for changes, and is at the mercy of any other changes. The missing blank lines issue appears to be a change in the dot-css/stylesheet, not made by Unity Co.
More importantly, several years ago two related things happened: all of the old-school moderators quit, and UA turned into a chat room. It's still better than reddit/Unity3D or the StackOverflow Unity3D area, but it's not worth having a person spend time on. Even if they did, a group of moderators are supposed to discuss and make a proposal. If you look, There's no discussion. At most 3 mods will reply to anything here, and will disagree.
