demo troubles

hi, i am having trouble playing demos like the island demo or the car tutorial demo. I am obviously not downloading/installing it right. can someone please tell me how to make unity open up the files in unity and also play the demos in unity. thanks, im new.

you should have a project folder that contains a .unity file, which you can open directly in unity. You may have to put the project folder into your main unity folder, not sure whether that's necessary though..

The island demo was made for Unity 2 and won't work in Unity 3 without some hacking, so you should not try to use it for now.

Thank you for the information and i tried but i just noticed that it downloaded as comcpressed folder/file and not a .unity. i've tried multiple links. Now what do i do?

You're not supposed to get anything other than a folder (with stuff in it). You open that folder in Unity as a project.

you can either open the downloaded folder and search for the .unity file in your finder or you can open unity and go to file>open project and search for your project there, both ways should work..
