AssetPipelineMode 2 not importing FBX materials
We are currently trying to automate our build process, and have encountered errors when importing FBX models. After cloning our git repo, the asset is covered in purple materials.
To reproduce the problem:
Create Unity project, import an FBX and place it in the scene. Save project.
Delete everything except the Assets, Packages, and ProjectSettings folders.
Open the folder with Unity again.
Wait for library to be rebuilt and assets re-imported.
Open the scene.
See purple materials on existing FBX model.
One workaround is to find the model in the Editor asset folder and "Reimport". In which case all the materials import correctly. A second workaround is to open the ProjectSettings/EditorSettings.asset
file and change to m_AssetPipelineMode: 0
before step 3. This uses the asset pipeline v1, which is being deprecated.
Why would the latest stable asset pipeline (v2) fail to import materials properly? Why would it work a second time round when clicking "Reimport"?
