Want shadows from a semi-transparent receiver
Hello! The premise is quite simple:
Light shines on a plane. Plane has a texture in black and white. Beneath that plane there's a terrain. Would like for the plane to cast shadows on the terrain, but only in its white or black areas.
After trying what feels like every combination of settings and shaders, it's either emitting a squared shadow, or none.
What can I do?
Thanks!
PS: bonus points if I can use a gradient, where grey areas are lighter shadows.
Try using the standard shader with the alpha of the texture as fade transparency.
to get shadows from a transparent texture you need to use a cutout shader the standard shader set to transparent cutout should work
