Maya Vertex Animation import
Hi guys. I'm trying to import a simple Maya object that I keyframe animated with vertexes — it's basically a cube that morphs into another shape. I combed the forums for this already and the only solution has been to buy MegaFiers, which is a little out of my college student budget. Are there no other support systems for vertex animation out of Maya? If not, how would you recommend I get this working — blend shapes?

Yep - blend shapes work simply - simple for this type of animation. As long as the vertex count stays the same from the original shape to the morphed shape, blend shapes will work.
Or you can do the bait and switch magic mask trick that is used in games and film to cover up the run-time model swap.
