Question by Bumpeh · Oct 30, 2015 at 01:57 AM · gameobjecteditorinspectordocumentation

Open Reference Button Opens Notepad++ Instead of Taking me to the Documentation

When I click on the open reference button for a particular object in the inspector, it opens up the actual HTML document in Notepad++. I use Notepad++ a little bit for editing and creating websites(or I did at least for a little while). Is this something I need to fix in Unity, or is this something my PC is doing because it defaults to opening HTMLs in Notepad++? I'm not sure, I don't remember setting that default... Does anybody know how I can fix it to open up the actual documentation and not the HTML document?

You need to fix this in your OS. Unity simply opens the html file in your default application which seems to be Notepad++ in your case. I suggest to first check the Notepad++ options about file extensions and then change the default application to your favourite webbrowser. Usually just right click the file, select "open with" and choose your webbrowser.

You may have to hold L.Shift while right clicking to see the option.
