Characters maker menu in game

Well, I am trying to make a game in which the users at first they will create their own personalized character and then use it. But I don't know as you may know, I think I should make lots of characters with blender to then bring them to the game but that is a lot of effort (I have no problem on doing that but is it the way to do it?) and if I do that how will I create a way make other users be able to see all of the different combinations before they start playing the game?
