Is there a way to change the Unity pro editor's background or text color
I just got the pro version of Unity and it is almost unusable because I cannot read the text in the hierarchy view. All that text is black and the unity pro background is really dark so the text disappears. I tried going to edit > preferences > colors but those don't seem to make any difference.
To be clear, I already had Unity 5 on my PC and was happy with the setup I had. I then purchased Unity and input the serial key into Help > manage License > Activate New License. The background then changed to the darker version but the text did not. The text was and still is black.

Try Edit > Preferences > Generals > Skin. then choose Light.
Hope that help you.
That definitely helps but is there a way to get the text to change so that the dark theme is usable as well? It would be nice if I could get it to look like this
I think you can't do that, because unity change automatically the color of an item in hierarchy to blue when you make it prefab.

This can be fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling the editor
