Why is PC Standalone build Sooooooo much larger than Web Build?
Why is PC version over 30 times larger than the web version?
Using Unity Pro 5.2 on Windows 7
I have set the Quality Settings for both the Web Player and PC Standalone to "Fantastic". Both are 1280 x 800.
Streamed Web Player files:
TestWebBuild.html - 4 KB
TestWebBuild.unity3d - 962 KB
Am I correct in assuming the Web Build only requires the two files listed above (i.e., no 'Data' folder)?
PC Standalone file sizes:
TestPCBuild_Data folder - 18.6 MB
TestPCBuild.exe - 15.3 MB
From what I can tell, there is no noticeable quality or performance difference between the two versions. Why is the PC version over 30 times larger than the web version?
Thanks in advance for the help.

The webplayer plugin has the Mono runtime and playback engine by itself and not bundled with the content like the standalone player. So if you add up these items you come to about the same size.

Thank you for your reply. I hadn't considered the size of the player itself.
I that case, considering that everyone I'm distributing to has the webplayer installed, I would be better off just distributing the html and .unity3d files as a substitute for the standalone .exe version even if the files are not hosted! :)
