how to speed up terrain generation and destruction?
I want to generate terrains with satellite map and GDEM data. Only the hightmap and splat texture of terrain data is needed. How can I disable Trees,grasses and other elements of terrain structure to save resource?
The whole scene contains many tiles of terrains. Terrains set is updated due to the position of camera. When camera moves, some tiles generate and some destroy with 'gameobject.destroy(xxx)'. I generate a new tile and destroy one tile per frame with startcoroutine().However, the destruction is much slower than generation. How could I accelerate the destruction to avoid the terrain set getting larger and larger?
"How can I disable Trees,grasses and other elements of terrain structure to save resource?" - I think you are asking if you can modify the Terrain data type so that it doesn't even allocate the data structures for trees, details, etc. which can't be done AFAI$$anonymous$$. When you instantiate Terrain(), that's part of the type itself.
