How To Use The Accelerator of Smartphone?

I watched this tutorial Accelerometer Input , but when I finished it, I found the axis x worked well, but z did not.(the object just move only one direction forward, no matter how you rotate or move your phone)

1. Why?

2. And is there a easier way to use accelerator?
