This is just a hunch, but, does deleting (or preferably rena$$anonymous$$g if you don't want to lose it) your library folder do anything?

Sometimes i got a error like this and deleting cache folder inside library folder of my project resolve. You could try this.

1) Fail. (Sorry, I just needed to get that off my chest)

2) Every project assets folder has an attached libraries folder, without that it will not work. Since you found your assets folder inside your recycling bin, try looking for the libraries folder there too. It was presumable deleted at approximately the same time.

3) Why was it deleted? Make sure that your computer is secure.
