How do I dynamically update a rect scroll from a List?

I want my Scrollable List to populate dynamically based on a List.

All the tutorials show how to instantiate slots and how to add information to the slots, but I can't find out how to delete the slots.

The following code does not work.

 List<GameObject> children = new List<GameObject>();
 foreach(Transform child in ScrollList)
     {
         children.Add(child.gameObject);
     }
 children.ForEach(child => Destroy(child));
