Question by Blayer98 · Jul 09, 2014 at 05:29 PM · animationimportmecanimmodelnot working

Can't find Mecanim?

Ok, this is getting annoying... :/

So, I have a model imported, but there's no option for Rig or Animation ANYWHERE.

It's also set to Human Mecanim as well.

Anyway, here's a screenshot for those who think I'm being an attention seeker. :)

So, does anyone know why it isn't popping up?

alt text So HOW can I get this model onto $$anonymous$$ecanim then? The model is a prefab, btw.

Window -> Animator

In project manager, probably in model prefab folder, right click -> Create -> Animator Controller

$$anonymous$$ake sure model is set to Humanoid for animation retargetting.

Post a screenshot of the Asset File for the model selected inside unity.

If you are using this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSC2h$$anonymous$$aG5AA It seems not be compatible at all with $$anonymous$$ecanim and uses an alternative animation script as you can see in 1:45

I think it's just because you have to select the model file in the Project view. You now selected the Gameobject. When you select the model, the model import settings will come up in the Inspector. Select the required tabs in that.

Hi, I tried your method, but it doesn't work. (The model is .pmx, $$anonymous$$iku$$anonymous$$ikuDance model, so I have a custom script that imports it.)

Should look something like the attached image. I'm not sure what the .pmx is different, so if it doesn't work, then likely it doesn't work due to the file format.

The pmx model is converted to a model for use with $$anonymous$$ecanim, but I can't see $$anonymous$$ecanim. :/

try converting the model into a FBX file, Unity works with FBX models natively so the $$anonymous$$ecanim with definitely work with an .FBX model...
