Blue hearts (1)

Silence.

Silence loomed over me. Darkness.

I tried to scream but my voice couldn't be heard. I was in complete darkness. Nothing. Just an empty void.

Suddenly there was a glimmering blue light. I reached for it. Trying to get to it as fast as I could. The light exploded, engulfing me in blue flames. I thought I will get burned so I tried to get away. I tried to scream but no sound came out.

Seconds later I was blinded by radiant light. I blinked furiously to get my sight back. My surroundings started to make a little sense. I was in a field. There were flowers in different colors - lavender, crimson, turquoise. The grass was fresh green. It was breathtakingly beautiful.
In the middle of the field there was a tall, old willow tree. I focused my gaze upon it. It looked magical.

Suddenly I felt a pull. Something dragging me towards the tree. I let myself go and went to the tree. A man lied there. He looked like a prince out of a fairy tale. His eyes were closed, was he sleeping? Was he dead?

I kneeled next to him and stared at his handsome face. His strong jawline and perfect cheekbones made me lick my lips. It was like I was staring at a Greek god. Perhaps I was...

Suddenly the man opened his eyes. They were the deepest blue I've ever seen. He blinked twice and then turned his gaze towards me. I felt like I was drowning in his eyes. He was looking into the deepest depths of my soul. Like no secret of mine was left unraveled.

"It's you." he finally said after a long silence. I blinked hard. This man knew of me? I didn't say anything as I kept on staring at him, knowing it is very disrespectful. I just couldn't turn my eyes away.

Suddenly something in my mind clicked. Memories started flooding into my mind which had been completely empty before. My feelings went into frenzy. I recognized the man in front of me.
He had been my soulmate in all of my previous lives.

A small smile grew on my lips.
"James." I whispered softly.
